The symptoms associated with heroin addiction are not for the feint of heart. Affecting the addict’s mental state as well as physical, these symptoms include depression and insomnia as well as vomiting and cramping. This is the worst of any kind of addiction which is why it attracts a higher level of usage in the patient than that of other addictions. This also explains why it is harder to overcome. There are also indirect risks which are often spread through the sharing of needles. Diseases such as hepatitis and HIV can be spread making the addiction potentially deadly.
