Sports have grown to become universally loved and watched. It is always nice seeing your favorite players play the game that you love, inspiring you to do better and play harder. Because of this, sports have become so popular that they have grown beyond the confines of their country of origin. Take basketball, for instance. It was previously just a game being played on American soil, attracting crowds that are nothing compared to how many people watch games nowadays. However, due to crafty promotion and smart management, the game has expanded its appeal to interest people in entirely different continents like Europe and Asia. This was previously unheard of, but because of some very smart decision-making, the game’s popularity has exploded. Nowadays, it is no surprise to see people wearing basketball jerseys as a fashion statement, or playing basketball on busy streets.

Drug testing has been attracting plenty of attention in the news lately, especially when pertaining to sports. Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao, for example, has been challenged by fellow boxer Floyd Mayweather, Jr.’s father to undergo drug testing due to his performances in his recent boxing matches. Even racehorses are under scrutiny at the moment, because of possible performance enhancing substances. And let’s not forget all those baseball and football players who have tested positive for steroids, severely damaging their reputations as athletes and casting a shadow on sports in general.
